Noticed someone? Signal them, safely
You saw someone across the room, and walking over felt like too much. Here you can say you'd like to meet them in a way that costs nothing if they don't feel the same.
Open or join a room
How it works
Someone opens a room for the place you're at, whether that's a bar, a club or a party, for the next six hours. Anyone signed in can open one, or join one that's already open.
You switch on "I'm open to meeting someone here". Once five people have switched on, everyone who has can see each other's photo and first name. Nobody who hasn't switched on is shown, and nobody outside the room can see in.
You quietly choose who you'd like to meet. They are never told: no notification, no count, no hint.
If they chose you too, you both find out at the same moment. Even then, neither of you is named until you both agree. After that, you can message each other.
The honest limit
If the person you noticed didn't switch on, nothing happens. We don't hold a signal for someone who never agreed to receive one, because a signal that waits for a stranger is a file on that stranger.
Why it's built this way
You only see who's in a room by being in it yourself, so you are seen exactly as you see. You need a photo to join for the same reason.
You're in one room at a time, and moving rooms clears anyone you chose. Rooms close after six hours, and no public page ever shows who was in one.
You can block anyone from their card. They aren't told, and neither of you sees the other anywhere again.
When you meet
Meet in the public place you're both already in, or agree on another one. Tell a friend where you are. You can block or report from any conversation, and every report is read by a person.
Can people see that I'm at this place?
Only people who have also switched on in the same room, while it's open. Signed-in members can see that a room exists, with its name and time, but never who is in it.
What if they don't choose me?
Then nothing happens. You'll never know, and neither will they.
Does the other person find out I chose them?
Only if they chose you too, and then you both find out together.
Why does a room need five people?
So that a match never singles anyone out in a near-empty room.
Can I signal someone who isn't on MeetBefore?
No. If you have a way to reach them, write them a letter instead.
Is it free?
Yes.
