Private circles
Connect privately with people from a community you already belong to, without anyone ever learning what you felt unless they felt it too.
Join with your work or college email
How it works
Prove you belong. Type your work or college email and we send a six-digit code to it. We don't keep the address; we keep only a scrambled fingerprint of it, so the same address can't join twice.
Wait for the circle to open. Nobody sees anybody until at least 25 people have joined, so nobody in a small group can be singled out.
Choose quietly. Say you'd like to meet someone. They are never told.
Find out together. If they chose you too, you both find out at the same moment. Neither of you is named until you both agree, and then you can message each other.
What nobody can see
There is no public page for any circle, no member list and no member count. Search engines never see a circle.
Nobody is ever told that they were chosen, and nobody running a circle, including us, has a screen that shows who chose whom.
The email domain that decides who may join is never shown, so nobody can work out where members work from it.
What a work email proves, and what it doesn't
It proves you could read mail at that address on the day you joined. It doesn't prove you still work or study there, and we don't claim it does. Membership lapses after six months unless you confirm again.
Workplaces are complicated
We can't see the power between two colleagues, and we won't pretend to. Nothing happens unless both people choose each other and both agree to be named, and you can leave a circle, end a match or block anyone at any time.
A circle for your community
Circles open one community at a time. If you'd like one for your company, college or alumni group, write to us from the contact page.
Can my colleagues see that I've joined?
Other members of the circle can see you among the people they might choose; that is how a circle works. Nobody outside it can see that you're in it.
Will the person I chose find out?
Only if they chose you too.
Can my employer see this?
No one at your organisation can see who chose whom. The code we send to your work address says only "Your MeetBefore code", but bear in mind that an employer may be able to read work email.
Is there a circle for my company?
Type your work email on the Circles page. If there is one, a code will arrive. We don't publish which organisations have circles, to protect their members.
What happens if I leave?
Leave the circle any time and anyone you chose is cleared, in both directions.
