Anonymous Valentine's love letters
Valentine's Day is the one day a year when saying it out loud feels allowed. You don't have to wait for it, and you don't have to sign your name.
Write a love letter
Why an unsigned valentine still works
Unsigned valentines are an old tradition for a reason. They let you say the thing without making the other person answer on the spot. They can smile, wonder, keep it, or ask who it was from, and every one of those is fine.
A MeetBefore letter keeps that, and adds one thing the paper version never had: if they do want to know, they can ask, and you get to decide whether to tell them.
How it works
Write the letter and say where they know you from. Get a private link that nobody can find without being given it. Send it yourself, on WhatsApp, Instagram or however you usually talk.
They can read it without an account. If they reply, it means they'd like to know who wrote it. You then choose whether to be named, and only if you both agree can you talk.
None of this depends on the date. It works on the 14th of February and on every other day of the year.
Ideas for what to write
The moment you first noticed them, and what they were doing.
Something they said that stayed with you longer than they'd guess.
What you'd like to happen: a coffee, a walk, or just for them to know someone thinks of them this way.
A sign-off with a clue only they would catch, or with nothing at all.
Timing
Send the link on the morning of the 14th, or the evening before. A letter that arrives when they have a quiet minute gets read properly.
There's no rush for them to answer: an unanswered letter stays readable for 60 days, then expires quietly. You can take it back any time before they reply.
What stays private
Your letter is never published and never appears in search results. You are never told whether it was opened. Your name is shown only if they ask and you say yes.
If it's someone you only saw once
A letter needs a way to reach them. If you noticed someone at a party or a bar and have no way to contact them, a letter can't help. If you're both at the same place again, Signal someone can.
Can I send an anonymous valentine to someone who isn't on MeetBefore?
Yes. Anyone with the link can read it. They only need a free account if they want to reply.
Is it really anonymous?
Your name is never shown unless they ask to know and you agree. The words themselves can give you away, so choose them with that in mind.
What if they don't want to know who sent it?
Then nothing happens, and you aren't told. The letter is simply theirs to keep.
Is it free?
Yes. Writing needs a free account and nothing else.
Does this only work on Valentine's Day?
No. The page is about Valentine's Day, but letters work every day of the year.
